Here, guests will wander through vibrant stalls overflowing with fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices, learning about their vital roles in traditional medicine and Javanese cuisine.
Next, delve into the market's dedicated jamu section. This traditional herbal tonic, used for over a thousand years to cure various ailments, is a beloved drink. See the ingredients used by vendors who sell jamu on the streets of Java.
The highlight of the tour is a hands-on jamu course. Traveling a short distance to a traditional shop that has been producing and selling jamu since the 1950s, and joining a local herbalist. Guests will personally grind, macerate, and press a blend of herbs to create a healthy herbal tonic, sample the drink, and gain deeper insight into its healing properties.
