Set today to engage more in the field about the nature consonance of Merapi Volcano and environs. Be picked up by the guide from the hotel in the morning after breakfast, drive to the north of Yogyakarta,

Go to the Gempa Museum (Earthquake Museum) to understand the evidence of earthquakes and mitigation in the area. Using a machine simulator and a miniature house, observe how the earthquake destroys the poor construction.

Continue the tour, and stop by a village for a walk in the neighborhood. Discover the story of Tyto Alba, the owl, who is aiding the farmer in catching harvest mice. Enjoy the view of the rice fields stretching above the bamboo minaret; When passing through the house, be aware of plants such as nutmeg, pepper, candlenut, and so on, and occasionally greet the resident.

Watch as the biogas fuel is used in the local house while a fresh coconut drink is being served. After that, enjoy lunch at the nearby restaurant in the midst of the bamboo groves.

This afternoon continues by semi-convertible four-wheel drive jeep closer towards the lava fields. Here, Sisa Hartaku Mini Museum in Kinahrejo tells the tragic story of local communities that despite being warned of imminent eruptions in 2010 did not leave their villages on time. Molten computer screens, toys and pets that have been burned down to their skeleton strikingly show the dangers and importance of cooperation with the authorities monitoring volcanic activity in the countries along the Pacific Ring – the so-called Ring of Fire.
