Set off on a full day guided tour of Bali, getting a taste of the many wonders that make the island so special.

Start the day with a two hour trek from Gunung Kawi to the iconic rice terraces of Tegalalang. Enjoy stunning views at every turn, while passing through fields, farms and small villages. Stop often for photos and to explore charming villages, catching a glimpse of life in the countryside. Wander through plantations growing tropical fruits, tea and other crops. Then, upon reaching the base of the terraces, climb a large staircase to the final resting place of Bali’s 11th century king. Admire the nine stone shrines sculpted from lava rock and take a short rest in this tranquil spot.

Then take a scenic drive to Kintamani for a special lunch with a view. Grab a table overlooking Mount Batur and gaze upon the calm waters of Lake Batur, formed in the caldera of the once giant Batur Volcano and in which a new active volcanic cone was formed.

Continue through the countryside to visit Tirta Empul, a sacred water temple. Learn about the importance of water in the Balinese Hindu faith and see local devotees coming to be ‘cleansed’ in the temple’s pools.

This afternoon the tour concludes with a visit to the sacred Kehen Temple. Explore the site’s eight terraces, its massive Banyan tree and detailed religious inscriptions. Gain insight into the Hindu faith and its role in the lives of the deeply spiritual Balinese people.

Begin driving back to the hotel, stopping along the way for a cup of coffee and a cake.

Return to your hotel early this evening. (L)
