The day begins with a morning drive south of Cairo to Saqqara, one of the oldest necropolises in Egypt. The Step Pyramid of King Djoser, designed by Imhotep, marks the first monumental stone structure in history. Surrounding tombs and reliefs add to the site’s significance as a foundation of pyramid building. Continue to Giza Plateau, where lunch is served at a restaurant offering views of the pyramids. This break provides a chance to enjoy local flavours while taking in one of the world’s most famous backdrops.

In the afternoon, explore the Great Pyramids of Giza, the last surviving wonder of the ancient world. The monumental tombs of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure rise dramatically above the desert sands. Nearby, the Sphinx guards the plateau, its enigmatic gaze a symbol of pharaonic Egypt. The day concludes with a return to Cairo in the late afternoon. (-/L/-)
