Depart from Siem Reap for an adventure like no other through the scenic Cambodian countryside to Phnom Kulen. Phnom Kulen is the birthplace of the Khmer empire and it is a popular pilgrimage site. This place offers you a unique blend of history, religion, nature, and wildlife. Visit the impressive Preah Ang Thom, the giant reclining Buddha. Continue to the River of Thousand Lingas, a riverbed carved with Hindu gods and other religious symbols. Be amazed at this set of underwater carvings which are around 1000 years old.

Return to the base of the mountain and head deeper into the countryside to Beng Mealea. Having lunch in a local restaurant around the area before exploring the temple. Hidden by jungle for centuries, the sprawling temple still is partly covered by branches and roots. On a wooden pathway, walk through nature and discover this harmonious blend of nature and architecture. Explore the temple's carvings through moss-covered arches and inner chambers. 

After concluding the Beng Mealea tour, head back towards Siem Reap. (L)
