Culinary Cambodia Siem Reap - Half Day
Today’s tour will begin at 08:00. Discover Cambodian cuisine and culture on a fun, tasty Siem Reap cooking class.
Meet with a local chef to discuss the morning’s plan and lunchtime menu. Then head to the market and browse the displays of herbs, fruits, vegetables, and meats on offer. The chef will explain some of the more unusual ingredients on offer and how they are used in traditional dishes.
Then it’s time for cooking! Venture out of the main part of town to a countryside village. Be welcomed into a typical Khmer home and shown to the kitchen. Under the watchful guidance of the chef, chop, slice and dice the ingredients. Use traditional tools such as mortar and pestle and follow recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Learn about food and its role in Cambodian culture as the chef shares tales of his personal experience and life.
When the meal is ready, sit down and feast on the delicious dishes. It’s then time to return to Siem Reap, with a full belly and a better understanding of local culture. (L)
