Explore the Prek Toal Core Reserve, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the largest waterbird colony in Southeast Asia. Enjoy a boat trip across the Tonle Sap Lake, observing the life of a floating village before entering the reserve to witness a number of rare and threatened large waterbirds.
The adventure begins early in the morning. Our expert guide and driver will accompany you to the Mechrey Pier. From there, embark on a journey across the vast Tonle Sap Lake.
Upon reaching the Prek Toal floating village, navigate the waterways and observe the biosphere reserve. Over 150 bird species have been recorded here, so keep an eye out for key species such as the Spot-billed Pelican, Milky Stork, Painted Stork, Lesser and Greater Adjutant, Black-headed Ibis, Oriental Darter and Grey-headed Fish Eagle.
Continue to the observation platform, where you can climb to the treetop for a breathtaking view of the bird colonies.
After the birding session, have lunch at the Saray Tonle Community-Based Tourism restaurant. If you wish, you can also visit the nearby water hyacinth handicraft workshop. In the afternoon, explore the floating village further, offering a deeper immersion into the local way of life.
