Backstreets, Temples & Communities - Half Day
Today’s tour will begin at 08:00. Drive to a leafy suburb for the start of local Phnom Penh walking tour. Wander down residential streets, catching a glimpse of the daily activities of the people. Stop for a visit to Wat Lanka, one of the oldest pagodas in Phnom Penh and for a view of Independence Monument.
Meander down small alleyways getting a glimpse of local communities, small pagodas, shops and businesses before venturing through a bustling local market.
Resume the walk with a trip to the waterfront to see the picturesque Wat Bottom Park. Wander along the riverside which is busy throughout the day with locals, street vendors and the occasional group of monks. Walking through this lively scene is a great way to appreciate the Cambodian culture.
Wrap up the Phnom Penh walking tour with a stop at the spectacular Royal Palace. The palace was built in 1866 at the end of the French colonial era. Walk through the sprawling compound and learn about the Kingdom’s Royal Family and the role they place in modern Cambodia. Visit the palace’s Silver Pagoda and admire the 5000 silver tiles that line the floors. There is also an impressive collection of Buddha images housed in the pagoda.
Armed with a greater understanding of the city and its people, return to the hotel.
