Support for Myanmar: Earthquake Disaster Relief

Support for Myanmar: Earthquake Disaster Relief

Myanmar is facing a significant humanitarian crisis following the 28 March earthquake, with entire communities devastated and thousands displaced. EXO Foundation is mobilising immediate aid through trusted local partners to support relief and recovery efforts.

Overview of impacts

On March 28th, a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, affecting nearly 900,000 people. The hardest-hit areas include Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing and Shan State. The damage is catastrophic, with over 1,600 homes, 670 monasteries, 60 schools and 3 bridges destroyed. Vital services such as healthcare, electricity, food, water and telecommunications have also been severely disrupted. The true scale of the disaster is still unfolding. What is clear, however, is that urgent support is needed.

EXO Travel has already mobilised support and provided a $30,000 donation, but more assistance is needed.

  • Mandalay City
Over 3,000 people displaced from the Mingalar Yankin housing complex are now living on the streets, with no access to food or water. Mandalay General Hospital is overwhelmed with patients and critically low on supplies.

  • Inle Lake Villages (Shan State)
Entire villages like Shay Wa Gyi have been destroyed. Families are now sheltering in boats with no clean water, food or medical access. A previously donated water system serving multiple villages has also been damaged.

  • Sagaing (Epicenter)
Sagaing is the hardest-hit and most difficult-to-access region. Relief teams are coordinating efforts with local partners to begin delivering aid as soon as possible.
