Celebrity chef Luke Nguyen and his team are about to
take you on a ‘Greater Mekong’ culinary journey through revealing to you secrets, recipes and history on the food as well as the country.

Exotissimo have had the pleasure of partnering up with Luke and his crew during their recent culinary journey to Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. We offered logistical and operational support throughout the filming process, as well as providing sound advice on where to find the best culinary experiences and contacts. The first country in the ‘Greater Mekong’ series takes us to exotic and relatively unexplored Myanmar. Its complex history has given rise to a multifaceted as well as tantalizing cuisine and dining culture. Luke Nguyen takes an in-depth look into Myanmar, its cuisine and culture. Let’s take a closer look at our celebrity chef. His parents fled Vietnam in 1978 from the war, eventually settling in at a refugee camp in Thailand. That was where Luke was born before he and his family migrated to Australia, where they settled.

His love for cooking stemmed from his “strict, food-obsessed parents” who ran a restaurant for 15 years in the Vietnamese suburb of Cabramatta in South Western Sydney. Later on, he opened one himself and it quickly won numerous awards, including Best Asian Restaurant in the 2008 Restaurant and Catering Awards. With this new found success, he has ventured into TV, becoming a well-known food documentary host.
