Position Overview

The Accounting Manager is the strategic lead for financial integrity at EXO Travel Laos. This role requires a technical expert who bridges the gap between accounting, labor law, and tax legislation. You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle, complex P&L management, and end-to-end payroll, ensuring the company remains 100% "audit-ready" and compliant with the latest Lao PDR regulatory frameworks.

Location: Vientiane

Responsibilities:

1. Legal Compliance & Tax Strategy

  • Regulatory Mastery: Interpret and apply Lao Accounting Law and Tax Law to ensure all financial operations are beyond reproach.
  • Tax Defence: Lead the preparation and filing of VAT, Personal Income Tax (PIT), and Corporate Profit Tax. Act as the primary liaison with Tax Authorities for audits.
  • Statutory Reporting: Ensure all financial statements comply with Lao Financial Reporting Standards (LFRS) and Group requirements.
  • Support company affairs where required, including documentation related to board resolutions and governance.

2. Full-Cycle Payroll

  • End-to-End Payroll: Execute monthly payroll for local and expatriate staff, ensuring precise calculations of base pay, incentives, and multi-currency adjustments.
  • SSO & Benefits: Manage all Social Security (SSO) contributions and statutory benefits.
  • Internal Controls: Implement rigorous verification processes for payroll to prevent errors or fraud.

3. P&L Management & Financial Oversight

  • Assist in finance transformation initiatives, including system implementations
  • Strategic Reporting: Prepare and present monthly P&L statements, providing deep-dive variance analysis (Budget vs. Actual) to the GM. Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Oversee the financial data flow from Tourplan to the accounting system, ensuring all client and vendor information is accurate and reconciled.
  • Audit Leadership: Lead the annual external audit process, ensuring all schedules and reconciliations are completed ahead of deadlines.
  • Oversee financial data collection for sustainability audits (e.g., Bcorp, GSTC) and enforce ethical purchasing policies.
  • Team Leadership: Foster a high-performance culture within the finance team

4. Administration & HR Support

  • Act as locally-based Admin and HR support as needed by HR Manager, GM, MD and HO.
  • Strengthen good relationship with relevant local authorities
  • Lead any administrative paperwork needing to be handled on behalf of EXO Travel Laos, including( but not limited to) team members’ insurances, visas, company licences, office contract rentals etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting field
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in GL
  • Expert-level understanding of Lao Tax
  • Strong background experience in service industry, Travel industry experience is an advantage
  • Good command of English
  • Interest and/or experience in the travel industry
  • Understanding of sustainability and responsible tourism is a plus.
