Escape the crowds of Bagan with a boat adventure to a remote temple. Travel up the Irrawaddy River, soaking up the scenery and passing charming river villages. Climb up the sandy shores to explore Kyauk Gu U Min, a unique cave-like pagoda that is blissfully free of tourists.

Today your tour will start at either 08:00 or 13:00.
Be enchanted by a quieter side of Bagan. Drive to the banks of the Irrawaddy River and climb aboard a private wooden motorboat. Cast off and travel upriver toward the remote temple of Kyauk Gu U Min.
The boat has a covered seating area and an open deck, both affording fabulous views of the waterway. Pass by small riverside villages, fishermen and local boats carrying cargo or passengers. Gain a deeper appreciation for the Irrawaddy River and its important role in Myanmar, seeing how it is used for transportation, irrigation, and sustenance. Traveling slowly, there is plenty of time to soak up the sites and take photos of the passing scenery.
Arrive at Kyauk Gu U Min on the eastern side of the river. Take a five to ten-minute walk over the sandy paths that lead to the temple. Explore the exquisite stone carvings depicting religious figures and flowers on the door then enter the main hall. Unlike the freestanding pagodas in central Bagan, Kyauk Gu U Min is built into the side of a cliff. Thanks to this unique feature there is a cave located at the back of the pagoda. Learn of the ancient legend behind this cave which was believed to have been built for the locals to hide from the invading Mongols. These days several small niches have been carved into the cave for individuals wishing to practice meditation.
After the exploration of Kyauk Gu U Min temple, return to the boat for a relaxing cruise back to Bagan (around 1 hour) and drive onwards to the hotel.
