The mountain ranges that characterise northern Laos and northern Vietnam encompass some of Southeast Asia’s most spectacular scenery. Here in the mist-shrouded highlands, hikers will encounter deep river valleys, sparkling waterfalls, a fascination mosaic of cultures and numerous incredible views. This epic adventure gets underway in Luang Prabang, the former royal capital of Laos, which is known for its sense of deep spirituality and its enviable setting at the union of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. From there, guests will set out northeast towards Vietnam by way of steep mountain trails that wind through the area’s glorious landscapes. The visual splendour is equally alluring across the border. Travelling north from the famous town of Dien Bien Phu, guests will pass through an area defined by the Tonkinese Alps. After resting up in the hill station of Sapa the adventure ends in Hanoi, Vietnam’s thrilling capital.
