Cycling - Chiang Mai Highlights - Half Day
You will be picked up at 08:00. Take a two-wheeled adventure through the city on this Chiang Mai highlight tour. Start with an easy ride along the banks of the Ping River, riding past traditional teak houses and seeing fishermen on the water. Stop often for photos and hear stories about Thai life and culture. Pop into hidden temples to see local devotees at prayer and sample fresh fruit from street stalls.
Head to the outskirts of town and pedal onwards to Wiang Khum Kham. Dating back to the 13th century, this ancient city was buried under mud for years and ‘forgotten’ until its excavation in the 1980s. Pedal around the city’s ruins and visit an ancient temple believed to house the king’s spirit.
Return to Chiang Mai and pass through Tha Pae Gate, the entrance of the historic old town. Pay a visit to Somphet market, a popular fresh market, and browse the stalls of fresh herbs and spices. Learn how these ingredients are used in Thai cooking and snap photos of the colourful displays.
Having worked up an appetite from the morning’s bike ride, return to the hotel in time for a late lunch.
