Pyin Oo Lwin Tour - Full Day
Meet the guide at 8:00. This Mandalay day tour starts with a two-hour, scenic drive to the former British hill station of Maymyo. Today known as Pyin Oo Lwin, this hill station is located on a plateau 1,000 meters above sea level and is known for its cooler climate and lush foliage.
As many reminders of the colonial era are still present in town, exploring these landmark sites is a major highlight of the visit. From brick and timber houses with British names to the Botanical Gardens in the south of the town, a walk through Pyin Oo Lwin is a walk through Myanmar’s recent history.
Continue to the clock tower, located in the heart of town, where the local market offers everything from locally-produced jams to fruit wines. Follow up this traditional market visit with lunch at a nearby restaurant.
In the afternoon, enjoy a ride in a traditional horse and carriage through the town to visit some more of the colonial sites, ending at the 175-hectare Botanical Gardens. Enjoy a relaxing walk through these beautifully landscaped gardens before transport is provided for the route back to Mandalay in the late afternoon.
Return to Mandalay in the early evening.(L)
