Beach Safari at Maung Shwe Lay - Full Day
Today your tour will start at 08:00.
Begin the day with transport from the airport or the accommodation in Ngapali to the traditional village of Maung Shwe Lay. Situated along St. Andrew’s Bay, this fishing village still subsists today entirely off the surrounding land and sea. Lined with a white-sand beach, calm waters (perfect for swimming) and lush jungle, the region exudes a truly tropical feel.
Upon arrival, the boat will be dropped anchor for snorkeling and swimming in the crystal-clear waters. Then continue from here to visit the village’s Buddhist monastery for a cup of tea, local homes and community library on foot or by oxcart through the village. The community library here is supported by the EXO Foundation.
Around midday, a delicious lunch of home-cooked seafood will be served at the restaurant of Lalay Lodge overlooking the beach. Consisting of fresh seafood, rice and noodles, this traditional, yet delicious meal offers some insight into the culinary habits of the village. After lunch, enjoy some free time to explore the village and beach.
Around 13:00, board a local boat for the transfer back to Ngapali. Upon arrival, our driver will be waiting to provide transport back to the hotel. (L)
