Today your tour will start at 17:00.

Late this afternoon, transfer to the boat jetty and board a local boat for a sunset cruise along the Irrawaddy River. Witness life on the water while passing by riverside villages, fishermen and boats transporting goods and people along the river. Enjoy a unique vantage point from which to see the temples as the sun’s last rays illuminate their red-brick facades.

Go ashore and explore a selection of lesser-known pagodas. Few tourists venture out at night and most of the sites will be empty, providing a unique opportunity to soak up the atmosphere and appreciate the grandeur of the ancient sites.

Continue to Shwezigon which is beautifully illuminated in the evening. One of Myanmar’s holiest sites, locals are often gathered in the evening to pray and meditate. Find a quiet place to sit and admire the gilded stupa and enjoy the serene ambiance.

Then take a closer look at local culture with a visit to the Thanakha Museum. Explore the informative displays and learn about the origins of this versatile wood. See how the wood is ground into a paste that is used as a cosmetic beloved by the Myanmar people.

The last stop of the evening is an interesting night market. Browse the stalls selling food, houseware and other items and mingle with the locals who come to shop.

Having seen Bagan by night, an entirely unique viewpoint, return to the hotel or to a local restaurant.
