Vespa Countryside Life Tour - Full Day
Today’s tour will begin at 08:00. Grab a helmet, head to the countryside, and begin this unforgettable Siem Reap Vespa tour. Leave behind the tourist-filled streets of downtown Siem Reap and head north of town. The scenery quickly changes when leaving the city with rice paddies, water buffalos, and small wooden houses lining the roads.
Head to a village just outside of the main Angkor Archaeological Park for the first of many interesting stops. See a shop filled with colourful shrines and learn why rural Cambodian families place these shrines outside their homes.
Continue to a nearby market that sells tropical fruits, vegetables and other locally-grown items. The market is a great place to meet with locals and learn about their daily routines.
Continue the Siem Reap Vespa tour by delving deeper into the countryside. Zip down winding pathways to reach West Baray Lake. Take a boat or go by scooter to an island in the middle of the lake where the magnificent West Mebon temple can be found. Although this ancient temple is under restoration, it is still beautiful and has an interesting story. Often an old fortune teller can be found sitting in the shadow of the temple and, for a small donation, he will give a preview of what’s to come.
A stop will also be made at Wat Svay Romeat pagoda to meet with the Buddhist monks. Receive a traditional blessing of good fortune in a serene ceremony.
As midday approaches, drive to a farm where a picnic lunch will be served. Enjoy typical Khmer food and refreshing drinks while relaxing in the countryside and soaking in the view.
Following lunch it is time to leave the countryside and drive back to Siem Reap for the conclusion of the Vespa adventure. (L)
