Certainly an iconic image in the region (and Vietnam in particular), the conical straw hat is more than a headgear. First of all, as a hat, it is a good shield against the sun and a great head protection from the rain. And when it gets really hot, just dip it in water and wear it. There is a piece of cloth in the hat that balances on the wearer4\u2019s head that can also absorb water. And as a tool? The hat\u2019s natural shape makes it useful for scooping water. In addition, it is not uncommon to see people using it as a fan or as a basket for vegetables, fruits or anything else.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exotravel.com\/travel\/vietnam\/tours\/absolute-vietnam\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vietnamese<\/a> ones though are noted for their charming designs. Oriental symbols, writings and words gracefully decorate their hats. And in Hue? Verses from poems literally add life to these distinctive multi-purpose headgears.
