Your first visit is to the country\u2019s largest city and main economic hub, Yangon. Highlights include a large reclining Buddha, Kadawgyi Lake and the majestic Shwedagon Pagoda. As you explore the city, the vibrant Burmese culture, as well as the country\u2019s proud heritage and rich traditions will be unveiled to you.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s now time to fuel your cycling passion. You first leg is an eventful 6 hour (or 142 kilometer) ride to the town of Pyay. And by eventful we mean opportunities to pass through local villages and other interesting countryside stops. One such site includes the world\u2019s only Buddha image that adorns golden spectacles. Reach Pyay later in the day and take a well-deserved break in the charming little town and reward yourself with a panoramic sunset view from a hilltop temple.<\/p>\n

From one charming little town to the next, prepare for the 60 kilometer trip to Magway, which you will reach by midday. Spend the rest of the afternoon and evening exploring the town or chilling out by the peaceful Irrawaddy River.<\/p>\n

Stretch those legs and prepare yourself cuz up next is a 90 kilometer ride to Mount Popa. As before, enjoy the surrounding Burmese countryside scenery and air before reaching this 1500 meter high volcano filled with stupas and nat (spirit) temples. This natural masterpiece is highly revered, thus earning the reputation as Burma\u2019s Mount Olympus. You will ride up this mountain to your beautiful resort and engage in relaxing activities like plunging in the pool or admiring the view. You will also venture up to the mountain top and learn about the age old and unique Burmese culture of nat worshipping.<\/p>\n

The end is near as you take on the 50 kilometer journey to Bagan as faint images of temples and stupas in the horizon slowly start to appear. This town is amazing. There are more temples per square meter here than anywhere else in the world, many of which are from the 11th and 12th century! And now, the last leg of your cycling trip. Take it easy and pedal 10 kilometers to the outskirts of Bagan, free from the tourist crowds. Bask in the serene Burmese countryside air and meet the always friendly locals.<\/p>\n
