Well, the thing is that you will have to earn it! Make the 328 stair climb up Mount Phousi for that panoramic view of Luang Prabang. You might get winded out after the climb, but the reward sure makes the effort worthwhile. Plus, a little stair climb doesn\u2019t hurt, right?<\/p>\n<p>Make a stop to one of the town\u2019s glittering temples when you visit Wat Xieng Thong. This is one of Luang Prabang\u2019s older ones, built in 1560. Next up is a stop to the mystifying Pak Ou Caves. If you decide to count them, there should be about 4,000 Buddha images here. The caves have always been a spiritually important place and people throughout time have placed their old gold lacquered Buddha statues here out of respect.<\/p>\n<p>If time permits, stop on the way back at Ban Xang Hay, a village specializing in making rice alcohol. Try if you dare, this drink really packs a punch! After that, take a tour of the city and visit more of Luang Prabang\u2019s attractions such as the Royal Palace, the golden bas relief temple of Wat Mai and Wat Sensoukarahm. Then in the evening, indulge in Lao culture with a Royal Ballet performance. The dances will provide you a unique entertainment experience that will surely live on in your memory banks for a while.<\/p>\n<p>No Luang Prabang experience would be complete without witnessing the early morning alms walk. And by early morning we mean before sunrise. If you can wake up this early, the experience should not be missed. After that, continue on with your temple touring before heading over to Kuang Si Falls, one of Southeast Asia\u2019s most beautiful cascades. Enjoy a picnic, swim in the pools or just bask in the forest surroundings. The choice is yours.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also get a chance to visit two ethnic villages on the way back to Luang Prabang. The lifestyles of these people haven\u2019t changed much for centuries, despite the rapid spread of modernism. Another thing that hasn\u2019t changed much is the food. Speaking of which, you will get to enjoy a nice authentic Lao food dinner aboard the Nava Mekong on the, yes you guessed it, Mekong River.
