Aesthetics have long played a central part in the culture of Cambodia. The temples at Angkor are widely recognised as one of history’s crowning architectural achievements. Meanwhile, a few generations later, the colonial and post-colonial eras ushered in a new age of Khmer creativity , reflected in everything from architecture to music, film and art.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

The dark days of Khmer Rouge rule and its aftermath served to stunt this blossoming, but guests visiting today can appreciate the country’s unique artistic heritage in a number of often-indulgent ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

Available journeys vary in scope. In the capital Phnom Penh, a vibrant architectural scene can be appreciated through informative walking tours, while a similar experience can be enjoyed in sleepy Battambang.
