A city like no other in Southeast Asia.\u00a0 It is charming, peaceful, laid back and very clean.\u00a0 It consists of beautiful historical buildings and relics as well as remnants of European colonial buildings.\u00a0 UNESCO has added this city into its World Heritage list.\u00a0 This city, or should we say town, is none other than Luang Prabang, Laos.<\/p>\n

Luang Prabang is a beautiful place.\u00a0 It is well known for its numerous temples and monasteries, with Wat Xieng Tong a prime example.\u00a0 Orange-clad monks walking in line during their alms walks in the morning is such an eye-catching scene.\u00a0 The catch: you have to be up by 6am.\u00a0 But the scene is just marvelous, certainly unlike anything you may have seen before.<\/p>\n

Luang Prabang may be a highly royal and religious town, but did you know that it can also be a family town?\u00a0 One great and environmentally-friendly way of exploring this ancient town is by electric bike.\u00a0 These machines can be pedaled like a bicycle or accelerated like a motorcycle and are powered solely by battery.\u00a0 These e-bikes are perfectly geared for kids.<\/p>\n

The Lao people are also very friendly and would gladly welcome you and your family to their petanque game.\u00a0 This is one of Laos\u2019 favorite pastimes.\u00a0 It is fun and very easy to pick up.\u00a0 Kids will also appreciate the skill, precision, beauty and grace of traditional Lao dance, which you can view in the evening as well.<\/p>\n

Next up is another destination you and your kids will surely like.\u00a0 It is Kuang Si Falls, one of Laos\u2019 most spectacular waterfalls.\u00a0 The shallow pools are an excellent spot for swimming (and for cooling off from the Lao weather) and the 50 meter falls that cascade into these waters is just breathtaking.\u00a0 The area around the falls is perfect for a picnic.\u00a0 Bon app\u00e9tit.<\/p>\n

Now for a little mysticism.\u00a0 Visit Pak Ou Caves and see the thousands and thousands of Buddha images.\u00a0 Who put them there?\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 All of these questions and more will be answered at the caves.<\/p>\n

Then it\u2019s off to Kamu Lodge, via the Mekong River.\u00a0 The safari-style accommodation lies in the middle of Laos\u2019 countryside in a hilltribe village.\u00a0 There are 20 cozy tents with comfortable beds, solar-powered hot water, electricity and private bathrooms.\u00a0 There are also activities for you and your kids to do like rice planting, gold panning, fishing and trekking.\u00a0 The scenery at Kamu Lodge is just splendid.\u00a0 You will daydream into fantasy as you sit on your balcony and stare at the Laos wilderness and at one of the world\u2019s great rivers.<\/p>\n
