Ha Giang (sometimes known as the Roof of Vietnam) is a province in Northern Vietnam.\u00a0 The area is home to a large number of minority groups and hilltribes such as the Dao, H\u2019mong, Tay and Nung, just to name a few.\u00a0 The provincial capital, also called Ha Giang, is an excellent place to base your travels in Northern Vietnam.\u00a0 If you are ready to discover an incredible corner of Asia, bring your camera and your sense of adventure and discover this rarely visited region!<\/p>\n

The area in and around Ha Giang is characterized by beautiful limestone karsts, rolling hills and highlands.\u00a0 The climate in Ha Giang Province is divided into two distinct seasons, namely rainy and dry, however the difference in temperature and rainfall between seasons can vary depending on the altitude.\u00a0 The temperature can get as cold as freezing in some places, so some sort of warm wear is recommended during the winter months.<\/p>\n

Meo Vac, a town north of the provincial capital near the Chinese border is home to many H’mong villages.\u00a0 They are easily identified by the colorful garments and headwear.\u00a0 Nearby is the Nho Que River, and an excellent venue for a light trek to visit the Tay and Nung hilltribe villages.<\/p>\n

About 140 kilometers from the provincial capital is Dong Van Plateau, very close to the Chinese border.\u00a0 The setting here is beautiful, to say the least.\u00a0 Passing clouds add to the already scenic view of the valley which are dotted with fields and rock formations below.\u00a0 Head up to the peak for an even better view!<\/p>\n

After visiting Dong Van, a recommended stop would be to Lung Cu, Vietnam\u2019s northernmost point.\u00a0 Hilltribes from around the region converge at the local market here to trade their wares, making it a lively, colorful and certainly interesting spot.<\/p>\n

The area around Ha Giang is stunning and is still untouched by tourism.\u00a0 Many come here as an alternative to Sapa, another mountainous town in North Vietnam.\u00a0 The area is certainly suited for adventurers, nature seekers and travelers looking for some peace away from the country\u2019s cities and tourist attractions.<\/p>\n
