After leaving Chiang Mai, the route passes through Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand\u2019s mightiest peak, before progressing to Mae Hong Son, an idyllic city near the border with Myanmar. From here, the scenery barely lets up. Highlights include the stretch towards Pai with its 762 bends and views of sparkling rice paddies and the scenery around Mae Sai, the heart of the \u201cGolden Triangle\u201d, the union of mountains and rivers where Thailand, Laos and Burma meet.
