{"id":1447,"date":"2010-06-07T14:03:40","date_gmt":"2010-06-07T14:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.exotravel.com\/blog\/?p=1447"},"modified":"2016-01-29T09:44:26","modified_gmt":"2016-01-29T09:44:26","slug":"krabi-thailand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.exotravel.com\/blog\/en\/krabi-thailand\/","title":{"rendered":"Learn about Krabi\u2019s Beaches and Destinations and choose the Best one for your Thai Holiday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Krabi is a province in Southern Thailand, bordering the Andaman Sea.\u00a0 It is home to some of Thailand\u2019s most beautiful beaches and limestone karsts.\u00a0 The province is also home to many beautiful dive sites, islands and national parks.<\/p>\n<p>Krabi is approximately 820 kilometers south of Bangkok.\u00a0 The province\u2019s geography is mountainous, with several plains and highlands surrounding the mountains.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The five kilometer long Krabi River flows through the provincial capital (which is also called Krabi) and is part of an estuary that empties out into the Andaman Sea.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most famous features of Krabi (especially at its coast) is its numerous solitary limestone hills, both on land and the ones sprouting out from under the sea as islands.\u00a0 Because of this, the province is a popular destination for rock climbers.\u00a0 Krabi\u2019s coastline and neighboring islands are famous for its white sandy beaches, warm blue waters and excellent coral reefs, which attracts beginner and intermediate divers from all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>Below are some highly recommended beaches, islands and national parks in and around Krabi Province:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Krabi \u2013 Krabi is the capital of the province.\u00a0 There are no beaches, but the Krabi River runs through it.\u00a0 Krabi International Airport is about 15 kilometers away from the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ao Nang \u2013 Is the province\u2019s most developed beach located on the mainland.\u00a0 Many restaurants and accommodation options are situated along the shores here.\u00a0 There are also many limestone cliffs at Ao Nang.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Had Yao \u2013 One of the province\u2019s untouched seaside destinations, also on the province\u2019s mainland.\u00a0 The beautiful beach contains spectacular views of Koh Jum\u2019s mountains and Ao Nang&#8217;s cliff walls.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rai Leh \u2013 Also called Railay Mountain by tourists (for its ease of pronunciation) is a peninsula on the Andaman Sea and a popular attraction for rock climbers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Koh Jum \u2013 Koh Jum is a small island located between Koh Lanta and the Krabi Province mainland.\u00a0 It is a great place to go for visitors looking for a peaceful and quiet island escape.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Koh Lanta \u2013 A great island escape known for its diving and snorkeling as well as its long sandy beaches.\u00a0 It is a relatively quiet island and another popular getaway for those looking for a peaceful island holiday.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Koh Phi Phi \u2013 A small archipelago of islands, home to Thailand\u2019s largest marine national park and made famous by the film The Beach.\u00a0 The islands attract lots of tourists, but are still beautiful places to go for a beach holiday.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Koh Siboya \u2013 A rural island that is off the main tourist trail.\u00a0 There are hardly any accommodation options here, aside from a very select few.\u00a0 Dirt roads dominate the island\u2019s transportation system.\u00a0 A great place to go to explore one of Thailand\u2019s rural islands.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Khao Sok \u2013 A beautiful national park comprising the largest area of virgin rainforest in Southern Thailand.\u00a0 The park is actually in Surat Thani Province, but can be easily reached from Krabi.<\/p>\n<p>The best time to visit the province is during the months of November to April.\u00a0 This is Thailand\u2019s dry season and the days usually contain bright blue skies and beautiful starry nights.\u00a0 However, this is also the country\u2019s high tourist season, so bookings should be done well in advance.\u00a0 The rainy season (June to November) is the island\u2019s low tourist season.\u00a0 Accommodation prices drop during this time and rooms are more readily available.\u00a0 The sea stays warm all year round.<\/p>\n<p>Krabi is definitely one of Thailand\u2019s if not the world\u2019s most desirable beach locations.\u00a0 Blue seas, warm weather, beautiful geography and great accommodation make the province an ideal vacation destination for many.\u00a0 If you are interested in a holiday at Krabi, see our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exotravel.com\/luxury\/thailand\/hotels\/nakamanda-resort-and-spa-krabi\/\">Nakamanda Resort &amp;
