West Timor is Indonesia’s westernmost area of East Nusa Tenggara Province and the Indonesian half of the Timor islands (East Timor borders it to the east as well as occupying a small northern area on West Timor and is a completely sovereign nation). It is one of Indonesia’s less visited destinations but just as captivating as anywhere else in the country. Interestingly, the name West Timor is an oxymoron in the Indonesian language, when translated into English it means ‘west east’.
