Bangkok Sightseeing

You will be picked up at 08:00. Spend a day exploring one of the world’s most captivating capitals on this full day Bangkok sightseeing tour. Although it would be impossible to see all its wonders in one day, this excursion provides an insightful, comprehensive introduction.

Start the day with a trip aboard a Longtail Boat. Move away from the high rises of the city and venture through the quiet canals upon which the city was originally built. Catch glimpses of the olden days, passing by charming neighbourhoods built on the water’s edge.

Return to the main waterway, the Chao Phraya River, to visit Wat Arun. Meaning ‘Temple of the Dawn’, this riverside pagoda dates to the 17th century. Wander among the prangs (spires), the largest of which is built to resemble Mount Meru from Hindu mythology. Admire its incredible decoration with ceramic tiles depicting figures of Chinese soldiers and animals.

Then cross the river and take a short walk to the Grand Palace, perhaps Thailand’s best known site. Be enchanted by the incredible compound of lush gardens and spectacular buildings. Visit the royal throne halls and remarkable Emerald Buddha.

Take a break at midday for lunch in a riverside restaurant, enjoying delicious Thai food with fabulous views. Then continue onwards to Wat Saket, a tranquil temple in the city centre. Take a short walk up the temple’s golden hill, listening to the chimes of the temple’s bells. Enjoy fantastic views of the Rattanakosin neighbourhood from this elevated viewpoint.

The full day Bangkok sightseeing tour concludes at Wat Benchamabophit. Also known as ‘Marble Temple’, this remarkable temple is unique in that it fuses Thai style with European architecture and is built entirely of Italian marble. Learn about the history of the monument and get a glimpse into the daily lives of Thai monks while exploring the vast site.

Following this insightful exploration of Bangkok, return to the hotel in the late afternoon. (L)

The Temple, the main grounds will be open every day year-round from 08:30 - 15:30 hr
The Palace, covering the museum and exhibitions, will be closed on certain dates, normally Thai public holidays
The Chapel, the chapel housing the Emerald Buddha statue, will be closed on certain dates, normally Thai public holidays
- Grand Palace is one of the most popular destinations and is usually a number one must-see place in Bangkok. Not surprisingly, it receives millions of tourists annually. To get the best of your visit and avoid crowds on spot we will allow your guide flexibility to visit the temple either early morning or late afternoon if possible in your itinerary. If you by any means decide that there are too many people for your liking, the guide can bring you to an alternative temple in the area such as Wat Saket or Wat Suthat, this decision needs to be made before entering the Grand Palace.
