Today your tour will start at 09:00.

Meet up with our guide in the morning to begin this full day family tour of Yangon.

Travel through the colonial streets of Yangon to visit the landmark of the city: Shwedagon Pagoda. Adults will be spellbound by the sheer beauty of this icon and children will be entertained by the visit as there are many fun activities and interesting things to learn. Make wishes and toss coins into the bowls, make offerings at the ‘animal’ posts and take note of the unusual neon Buddhas in the prayer hall.

After visiting the pagoda, take the eastern stairs to the ‘monks market’. Selling everything from monks’ robes to alms bowls, this market is a colourful spectacle to explore.

Continue to Mahawizaya temple where children can take the chance to feed the fish. Feeding temple fish is a way that the local Buddhists make merit, but it’s also a fun encounter for kids as the giant fish swim to the surface to collect the treats tossed in.

From here, a private car will provide a downtown transfer to the fabulous Bogyoke Market. Also known as Scott Market, the building is filled with stalls selling local handicrafts such as marionettes, lacquerware and jewelry. To get the family into the local spirit, purchase everyone a traditional longyi, a sarong-like skirt worn by men and women, and try thanaka, the local yellow paste used as sun-cream. Take a family photo- a perfect snapshot of the memorable day in Yangon.

Around midday, head to Kandawgyi Park in central Yangon. With its large lake, views of Shwedagon, replica royal barge and shady walking paths, this park is popular with local families and is a great place to relax and enjoy lunch (independent of tour cost).

Return to downtown around 15:00 and cool off with an ice cream at Shwe Pa Zun, a popular sweet shop which sells an array of homemade treats. The sweets are delicious and it is a great place to meet friendly local families. After the treat, transport will be provided back to the hotel or to another destination in the city.
