Caves, rivers and rice paddies: Vang Vieng is a adventure lover’s paradise. Spend a day in the countryside exploring Laos’ natural beauty. Climb to limestone caves, swim in the crystal-clear waters of spring fed ponds, and cruise along the Nam Song River in a wooden boat.
Programme Details
This tour starts at 09:00. Spend today exploring the natural beauty of central Laos. Start by crossing the Nam Song River, leaving behind any signs of modernity in Vang Vieng and heading into the countryside.
Travel through the rice paddies to Tham Pou Kham, a cave located 100 meters underground. Wander around the immense cavern and go for aswim in the clean, spring-fed waterhole.
Continue through the countryside to Tham Chang Cave. Set high in the cliffs, the cave offers a spectacular view over the surrounding farmsand fields.Inside there are plenty of stalactites and stalagmites to explore and a natural spring-fed basin contains cool water for swimming.
After a morning of caving, it’s time to explore another side of Vang Vieng. Head to the Nam Song River and board a private longtail boat for a cruise. Enjoy the scenery of limestone cliffs, verdant green jungle, and the occasional fishing boat passing by.
Disembark in town to enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant facing the mountains in town.
Then return to Vang Vieng for a relaxing afternoon in town. (L)
