Leisurely Cruising Komodo (SIC)

Take a morning flight to Labuan Bajo, the city at the most western tip of Flores. A local guide and car will meet and transfer the guests to the harbour.

Recommended flights (Not included and quoted separately– Tariffs and schedule subject to change without prior notice): Garuda Indonesia from Denpasar (Bali) to Labuan Bajo GA7026, departing at 07:30 and arriving at 09:05.

The beautiful Phinisi schooner Plataran Felicia waits at the private jetty near Labuan Bajo. The journey starts with a sail over the blue ocean to Rinca Island, which is part of the Komodo National Park. Relax on board for the next three hours until arrival on the island with its famous inhabitants, the Komodo Dragons. The trek starts at the ranger station near the jetty in a small lagoon, and guided by experienced rangers the trek will lead to the unique lizards, which are most of the time relaxing hidden being branches or under the local people’s stilt-houses. After the trek, the cruise continues to Kalong Island where the Plataran Felicia will be mooring for the night. Kalong is known for its mangrove forest and the “house of thousand bats”.

All meals will be served on the boat.

Early in the morning the boat will set-off for Komodo Island. After breakfast another trek awaits, and despite both islands being part of Komodo National Park, both Rinca Island and Komodo Island offer different landscape features. Besides the dragons, on Komodo also other animals can frequently be observed, such as deer, wild boar and numerous of birds. A local ranger will lead you through this nature reserve.

Continue for a relaxed session of snorkeling and some relaxation at the world heritage Pink Beach (Pantai Merah). The beach has its color from small red coral fragments that mix with the white sand.

Lunch is served on board.

In the afternoon proceed to Manta Point. Manta Point (called Karang Makassar locally) is a spot where manta rays can often be encountered. It's a popular dive site for this reason and snorkeling is on the program once again this afternoon if you’d like to see the rays, huge marine creatures that can grow up to 4 meters in width. They are endangered, and efforts are made to protect them from illegal fishing practices. Although seeing manta rays can’t be guaranteed, Manta Point offers excellent snorkeling experience. Reefs are lying from only 2 meters to 9 meters depth. Turtles, eagle rays, giant trevallies, huge clams, various kind of sponges, and cuttle-fish are frequenting the reef on regular basis.

Back on board enjoy a drink for sunset. Dinner is served on board slowly sailing to Siaba for overnight stay. Overnight onboard the boat.

In the morning after breakfast you can enjoy snorkeling safari starting at Kanawa Island which is a beautiful small island with amazing corals. Afterward the Phinisi boat will bring you to another beautiful snorkeling around the Komodo sea at Sabolon Island. Sabolon islands is one of the best snorkeling islands in Indonesia, its located on the north part of Labuan Bajo. The islands itself is uninhabited; no one lives there but goats. The island has a small beach but the underwater world is spectacular.

Continue the sail to Labuan Bajo for farewell and disembarkation at around noon. Transfer to the airport for onward travel or possible extensions in Labuan Bajo.
