Itinerary

📍 Gunung Sitoli – Teluk Dalam (113km): 3 hours

Depart from Kuala Namu Airport in Medan on a flight to Nias.

Recommended flights (Not included and quoted separately– Tariffs and schedule subject to change without prior notice): By Garuda Indonesia GA7116 from Medan, Kuala Namu Airport (KNO) to Gunung Sitoli, Binaka Airport (GNS) departing at 07:00 and arriving at 08:00

Upon arrival at Binaka Airport in Gunung Sitoli, meet with the local Sumatran guide outside the arrival area of the airport and depart by private vehicle with driver.

First, visit Pusaka Nias Museum for a look at over 6,000 interesting cultural and historical artefacts that are on display there -a perfect introduction to the area’s unique cultural heritage.

After lunch in the local restaurant, proceed to Lagundri Beach in Southern of Nias -the first look at the incredible paradise that awaits at every corner in the Nias islands. In the afternoon, arrive in Teluk Dalam and check into a homestay for an unforgettable stay while experiencing true local hospitality.

  • The only accommodation available on Nias is simple accommodation and best available.

Inclusions:

📍 Teluk Dalam – Bawomataluo (27 km): 50 minutes Bawomataluo – Hiliamaetaniha (16 km): 30 minutes HIliamaetaniha – Teluk Dalam (11 km): 15 minutes

Breakfast is served at the homestay.

In the morning, be picked up by the guide and driver for today’s visits to the incredible village of Bawomataluo. Visit the house of the village chief, which was built 200 years ago and is beautifully decorated. In front of the house there are many megaliths which show the importance of his royal family.

Note:

  • Demonstration of stone jumping and a war dance will be optional (not included). Stone Jumping is a manhood ritual that sees young men leaping over two meter stone towers to test their fate. In the past the top of the stone board was covered with spikes and sharp pointed bamboo poles.

After lunch in the local restaurant, continue on to Hilisamaetano and Hiliamaetaniha traditional villages. Also a visit to Sorake Beach (where surfers come from all over the world come to catch waves) and a local market are part of today’s itinerary.

📍 Teluk Dalam – Gomo (38 km): 1 hour 20 minutes Gomo – Gunung Sitoli (96 km): 2 hours 30 minutes

Breakfast is served in the hotel.

After breakfast you are picked up by your driver and tour guide for today’s visits and drive to Gomo via Lahusa. Enroute stop at Tetegewo to see its megalithic stone structures.

Then, arrive at Gomo and cross the river to visit Tundru Baho. Check out the charming village here and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.

Another visit is to Boronadu to see another megalithic stone structure. From here, we continue our drive back to Gunung Sitoli.  Check into the Wisma Soliga Homestay and spend the rest of the evening at leisure, interacting with the host family or relaxing.

Dinner is at leisure.
