With its youthful population, Cambodia is very much geared towards children. This emphasis is never more noticeable than around Siem Reap where the temples of Angkor offer plenty of grist for inquisitive young minds. Temples such as Angkor Wat and the jungle-covered Ta Phrom are up there with some of the world’s most fantastic sights and are ideal for exploring by means of pedal power.
Away from the temples, Siem Reap has lots of other attractions for kids. Youngsters can practice speaking Khmer in the marketplace, journey to serene Phnom Bok in the evening and sample exotic local delights at the city’s buzzing night market.
On the final day of the journey, the action shifts to Tonle Sap Lake, Asia’s largest body of freshwater, where guests can take to kayaks to explore the famous floating villages where locals make their living off the enormous lake.
