Yakushima Outdoor Adventure (4 Days / 3 Nights)

The southernmost of Japan’s main islands, Kyushu, is known for its wondrous natural tapestry of bubbling volcanoes, pristine forests and healing hot springs. One of its greatest assets is Yakushima, a subtropical island located just off the coast. Taking the ferry to Yakushima is like a portal to another, more primeval, world. The island has been declared a UNESCO Natural Heritage Site and constitutes a unique area of almost completely untouched wilderness. Unsurprisingly, this forest-covered haven is a perfect fit for hiking and outdoor enthusiasts. This active journey takes full advantage of these possibilities, offering guests a combination of mountain and forest trekking. On the second full day on the island guests will complete the ascent of Mount Kuromidake, savouring the amazing views from the top. The next day of hiking through the cedar forest is less physically demanding, but the ancient trees – some dating back thousands of years – are equally awe-inspiring.
