Discover Kanchanaburi’s WWII Past with time to Enjoy the Province’s Natural Scenery

War history enthusiasts will know of the Thai province of Kanchanaburi. Not too far from Bangkok, the province is home to the famous (or some may call infamous) Death Railway, otherwise known at the Bridge over the River Kwai.

Not too far from Bangkok, the province is home to the famous (or some may call infamous) Death Railway, otherwise known at the Bridge over the River Kwai. There’s much more here than this bridge. The province is characterized by rolling hills, green plains and rivers. A nice blend of war history and nature awaits you at Kanchanaburi.

On your way there, make a stop at Samut Songram, about 80 kilometers from the capital. It is a very small province, but a lively one characterized by a unique country market and a maze of canals that makes up Tha Kha, one of the country’s famous floating markets.
