Bugisan by Ox Cart and Prambanan Sunset with Dinner (Full Day)

Thanks to its booming and dynamic economy, Indonesia is modernising quickly. Despite its tech-savvy population and growing sophistication, old traditions die hard, especially in the country’s rural heartlands. This full-day excursion offers guests a unique sampler of the rhythms of the Central Java countryside, from observing the daily activities of the people to playing gamelan, the traditional ensemble music of Java and Bali.

The day kicks off with a visit to the rarely visited Plaosan temples. Afterwards, the action takes a step back in time as guests are picked up by an ox cart for the ride to a nearby village to watch locals make traditional Javanese snacks and to brush up on their gamelan skills. After lunch, guests are transferred to the UNESCO listed Hindu temple of Prambanan, one of the country’s most affecting spiritual sites.

Here, with the temple and Mount Merapi as a backdrop, a sumptuous Indonesian set dinner will be served.
